Gloucestershire Airport Receives Permanent RFF Category 4 Status

Wednesday January 15, 2025

As part of the further development of our services, as of 1 January, 2025 Gloucestershire Airport is pleased to announce its upgrade to a permanent Rescue and Fire Fighting (RFF) Category 4 status.

This development aligns with our long-term strategic objectives, positioning Gloucestershire Airport as a leading regional aviation facility committed to maintaining the highest safety standards.

The upgrade follows substantial investment in both personnel and equipment. Airport firefighters have undergone extensive training to meet Category 4 standards, ensuring rapid and effective response to any potential emergencies.

"This upgrade represents a major milestone in our commitment to safety and growth," said Jason Ivey, Managing Director of Gloucestershire Airport. "By achieving permanent Category 4 status, we have not only enhanced our safety protocols but also opened doors to new opportunities for regional air travel and business.”

Previously operating at RFF Category A3 with Categories 4 and 5 available only upon request, the airport can now consistently support a wider range of aircraft operations including allowing larger aircraft to use the airport. This advancement is expected to attract new operators and expand services for existing clients.
