Airport Director Fundraising For Veterans
Wednesday March 20, 2024
Gloucestershire Airport and charity Wings For Warriors are excited to announce they have joined forces to participate in this year's Hellas 7 day Rally, which is set to take place in Greece this May.
Airport Director, Jason Ivey and team 'Wings for Warriors' will be pushed to their absolute limits - navigating, maintaining and enduring their KTM 500cc motorcycles around a brutal 1,730 km off-road course.
The team, who have funded the trip themselves, are hoping to raise £5,000 for the charity, which supports military veterans into meaningful employment after becoming wounded, injured or sick during service.
A large element of this includes training to become commercial pilots which most recently has taken place at Gloucestershire Airport.
As a military veteran himself, Jason came up with the idea to fundraise for the charity after meeting those in training and said, “I saw how life changing the opportunity of creating a career in aviation was so I found a tough challenge to complete that will hopefully raise significant funds for the charity to be able to improve more lives through aviation.”
Wings for Warriors Director, Mark Radcliffe commented, "we are so humbled by what Jason and his team are taking on in support of our small but mighty charity. Our veterans are no strangers to overcoming adversity through grit, determination and adventurous spirit, which are qualities so abundant in the participants of this gruelling race. It really feels like this is the perfect way to raise money, which is so vital for our work and we are so grateful for the opportunity to work more closely with Gloucestershire Airport and the team there.”
